SummerWorks Is Happening Now!

The following is a brief list of some queer-themed shows at this year's SummerWorks Festival in Toronto...

Eating Pomegranates Naked
This piece, in which the main character is intersex, challenges our ideas of womanhood. You're only as safe as your secrets.

girls! girls! girls!
It's a Friday night booze up in a small town and it's time for revenge. This play examines issues of teenage bullying in the LGBTQ community.

Jackie's Not a Real Girl
This play by Nichola Ward is based on the true story of a trans woman who was sent to a men's prison.

Late Company
The story of this award-winning play was inspired by the real-life suicide of Jamie Hubley, the 15 year old gay son of an Ottawa city counsellor.

To Myself at 28
Sky Gilbert says this piece is “one of the most embarrassing,  humiliating and masochistic confessional plays ever written”.  Directed by Ed Roy, Gilbert shares the stage with newcomer Spencer Charles Smith.

X
In this multimedia piece, Australian writer/performer Sunny Drake presents a magical, whimsical and honest look at addiction, grounded in LGBTQ experiences.
