Christmas in Toronto 2015

It's time for our annual round-up of Holiday shows. This year, we've got everything from gay to straight, from comedy to cabaret and from dance to drama. Toronto has something to offer for everyone this Holiday season. (Sorry if we missed anyone out!)

Mistletoe Magic

This show shines bright with Holiday magic under the black light. Reindeer will fly, icicles will drip and the Ice Queen will pierce your heart with love! – Now until January 2 at Famous People Players Dinner Theatre.

Dee Snider’s Rock 'n Roll Christmas Tale

This is the story of a metal band with a 25 year history of failure, whose members sell their soul to the Devil in exchange for success. That is, until they are saved by the spirit of Christmas. It features Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider and dance floor favourite from the '80s & '90s, Taylor Dayne. – Now until January 3 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Peter Pan

After 20 years of producing and performing in Ontario’s favourite family holiday musicals, Ross Petty will hang up his Spanx and take his final boo as Captain Hook in a brand new production of this family fun pantomime. (Sounds like a drag!) – Now until January 3 at the Elgin Theatre.

Make The Yuletide Gaaaay

Continuing his cabaret residency, Ryan G. Hinds welcomes the holiday season with "equal parts annoyance and celebration".  Enjoy surprise special guests and campy tunes that will warm the cockles of your heart. – December 3 at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre.
THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS.

It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

It’s Christmas Eve in 1947, and inside a radio studio, a live broadcast brings Frank Capra’s timeless film to life in all of its feel-good glory! Be a part of the live studio audience, and join the cast and crew as they take you on a journey through the most important evening in one man’s life. (Maybe an angel will get his wings!) – December 3 to 24 at the Lower Ossington Theatre.

A Christmas Carol

Soulpepper's beloved production of this classic has become a Toronto holiday tradition. Follow Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by three ghosts who help him understand the importance of charity in the holiday season. (Bah! Humbug!)  – December 3 to January 3 at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

The Pageant

This show is an irreverent celebration of the best - and worst - parts of the holiday season, all gift-wrapped up in an unscripted package. Each show focuses on a different family's quest to find the true meaning of a made-up holiday and culminates in the classic show-within-a-show device: the staging of a holiday pageant that pulls the whole motley cast of characters together. – December 4 to 18 at Bad Dog Comedy Theatre.

A Very Leila Christmas

Izad Etemadi brings his alter ego’s successful Christmas show from last year back again. Travel to the North Pole with Leila, singing all your favourite Christmas songs along the way, and help her discover the true meaning of Christmas. – December 10 to 13 at The Box Toronto.

The Christmas Tree

A tree lot. Xmas Eve. One man. One woman. One tree. Who should get it? Check out this Canadian Christmas comedy to find out! Ramona Milano (Due South, Degrassi) and Marc Bondy (Stratford Festival) star in the Toronto premiere of this seasonal Norm Foster play, directed by Gay Theatre Toronto’s Darren Stewart-Jones. – December 12 and 13 at the Red Sandcastle Theatre.

A Very Chris-terical Christmas Cabaret

Chris Tsujiuchi is back once again with his 6th annual Chris-terical Christmas spectacular! There will be comedy, music, riffing, choreography, and lots and lots of heart. – December 12 and 13 at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre.

The Nutcracker

This National Ballet of Canada production is Toronto’s favourite holiday tradition and an utter joy to experience, for children and adults alike. Join Marie and Misha on their magical Christmas Eve journey as they battle the Mouse King, travel to the glittering winter realm of the Snow Queen and visit the magnificent palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy! – December 12 to January 3 at Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

Sharron and George’s 4th Annual Super Fun Christmas Sing-A-Long

The title says it all! Don your gay apparel, grab your tambourine (and your friends) and come on down for one of the best evenings of Christmas entertainment around! Featuring Sharron Matthews and hubby George Masswohl. – December 19 and 20 at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre.

Happy Holidays!
