Well, it's been quite a year! My one act play, The Judy Monologues, played at The Grand Theatre in London, Ontario as part of the London One Act Festival. The play is a multimedia tribute to Judy Garland, based on rare voice tapes she recorded in the mid-1960s for an autobiography that she would never come to write. At the festival's awards ceremony, we were given special mentions for the concept and the audio/visual content. Philip Cairns won the Best Actor award for his performance in the play. We previously performed the show at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre in Toronto and also at The Pearl Company in Hamilton. The script is available online as an eBook from several different
retailers. We are considering performing the play as part of a Fringe festival or two next summer. I will keep you posted!
I will be running the HamilTEN 10 Minute Play Festival in April 2012 at The Pearl Company in Hamilton. It will be the inaugural year for the festival and we are looking forward to receiving script submissions at hamiltenfestival@gmail.com - Please email us if you have any questions or would like to receive a copy of our submission guidelines.
Gay Theatre Toronto is a blog site I have set up to review theatre in the GTA that appeals to a gay audience. We are planning ticket giveaways for readers and I hope to bring you a unique outlook from my personal perspective.
Thanks for reading my first post and I look forward to sharing some great info with you on theatre happenings around the GTA.
